Since 1958 the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) has been committed to providing American youth with a drug and alcohol free environment to foster their leadership abilities, broaden their horizons through hands-on training and guiding them to becoming mature young adults.
Through organization and cooperation with the Department of the Navy, the NSCC is able to encourage and aid American Youth in their training of seagoing skills and to instill in them a sense of patriotism, courage, self-reliance and kindred virtues.
Our Cadets are instructed by NSCC Officers, active duty military and senior Cadets through classroom and applied instruction. Some of the subjects include basic seamanship, military drill, and leadership. The NSCC training program consists of Navy Non-Resident Training Courses (NRTC), two week training schools, shipboard training, and training arranged locally by units. It typically costs families up to $250.00 to have a cadet in the program per year which includes uniform costs, annual membership and travel expenses along with basic and advanced training costs.
The Yankees Squadron currently has over 35 cadets and continues to grow more each day. To maintain the unit at current levels it costs roughly $5,000 per year, with costs increasing with each new enrollment. The majority of these fees are currently being paid for by the Cadets families directly. We would like to ask for your support to help maintain our unit and to allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy the program for all that its worth!
